Israel plans to demolish Bedouin school at Al Khan al Ahmar on Sunday

The Israeli authorities have distributed 46 demolition orders at Al Khan al Ahmar [see below the Al Jazeera English TV report, and an article by Amira Hass in Haaretz), covering all village homes and other structures (mosque, animal pens, clinic) including the mud and car tyres school. Please contact your Member of Congress to ask them to use their power to prevent it. Similarly, if you are living in an EU member state (including the UK – STILL!), please ask your MEPs to sign a letter currently circulating, asking HRVP Federica Mogherini to put pressure on Israel to stop such forcible displacement that is being undertaken in order to facilitate settlement expansion.

Amira Hass writing in Haaretz:

“The Bulldozers and the Bedouin – The West Bank Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar received a temporary respite this week from seemingly inevitable demolitions.”

Amira Hass Feb 24, 2017 12:51 AM

“On Wednesday, the Palestinian Civil Defense (firefighters) came to the Bedouin community in Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem. They instructed schoolchildren on how to evacuate quickly in case of an emergency. This particular emergency came with an anticipated date – Thursday.”

“The emergency consisted of bulldozers belonging to the Civil Administration coming to demolish 150 dwellings, sheep pens, toilets, warehouses, solar panels, etc. Teachers were taught how to extinguish fires in case tear gas or stun grenades ignited a dry branch or some synthetic fabric.”
