WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong> (April 30, 2019) – On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in anticipation of the May 1 deadline set by the Israeli courts requiring a status update on the West Bank community of Khan Al-Ahmar and continued concern over the status of the village of Susiya, Congressman David Price (D-NC), Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Congressman John Yarmuth (D-KY), Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT), Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA),<\/strong> and Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX),<\/strong> released the following joint statement: <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs strong supporters of the U.S.-Israeli special relationship and a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we are deeply concerned about the potential forced evacuation and demolition of the Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar and the Palestinian village of Susiya in the West Bank.\u00a0 As we have said before, the destruction or displacement of these villages or any other similarly situated Palestinian communities in the West Bank would run counter to shared American and Israeli values and undermine long-term Israeli security, Palestinian dignity, and the prospects for peacefully achieving two states for two peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0We call on the Israeli government to revoke these demolition orders.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" April 30, 2019 | Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C.
