UPDATE SUNDAY 5.3.17 FROM ADV. SHLOMO LECKER
Today, this afternoon, the Civil Administration issued 42 demolition orders, upgrading the recently issued 42 stop work orders. So now the entire village, including the car tyres school, is under immediate threat of demolition, with all the political implications previously discussed. On Thursday, 2nd March, Adv. Lecker filed an urgent petition against demolition (despite the 42 stop work orders not having yet been upgraded to full demolition orders), requesting an injunction on those stop work orders from the High Court.
Adv. Lecker reports that there was originally an indication that the CA would issue the demolition orders on 2.3.17 and would act to execute them shortly after.
The duty judge, Judge Noam Sohlberg, has not yet given a decision as to issuing an injunction. This is very uncommon, and Adv. Lecker reports that this has never happened to him before. Sohlberg is a particularly unusual judge: not least, he is a right-wing settler.
The 42 demolition orders were issued today, Sunday 5th March, 2017 in the afternoon. The community was given seven days to execute the orders, i.e. to self-demolish all their homes and the school.
Adv. Lecker reports that he is now trying to find a way to bring the issue in front of another judge. But he states categorically that this is extremely serious and urgent, requiring maximum diplomatic pressure in order for (a) an injunction to be issued and (b) the demolition orders not to be activated by the State as of next Sunday.
